bluefish444Bluefish444, a manufacturer of uncompressed 4K/2K/HD/SD SDI video cards, has announced important software upgrades for both their Windows and Mac OSX installers.  The new OSX installer adds support for Avid Open I/O to its Create line of uncompressed HD-SDI cards. Avid Open I/O is designed to let third-party manufacturers develop plug-ins allowing their hardware to work with Media Composer and Symphony.

The OS X 10.7 installer "provides cross-platform SDI I/O solutions to Avid users for the first time," said Bluefish444 Managing Director Craige Mott in a prepared statement. "Bluefish444 regards Avid as a long-term strategic partner and we will continue making Open I/O OS X releases in the future."

The Create 3D Ultra, Bluefish444's flagship card for digital content creators, features 2x HD/SD 3G-SDI IO, 2K dual-link IO, 3D stereo IO, 12-bit video processing, hardware-based scaling, DVI/HDMI preview, three 1D LUTs, eight channels of AES/EBU digital audio and two channels of analog audio monitoring. The Create card line starts at $1999.

The Mac OS X 10.7 installer v8.5.0 is available as a free download from the Bluefish444 homepage. The release notes [PDF] are also available for download, and more information is in Avid's FAQ.
For Windows users, the new v5.11.2 installer provides multiple free software upgrades for Bluefish444’s Epoch | 4K Supernova card.  “Epoch | 4K Supernova has quickly become Bluefish444’s flagship product. It’s bi-directional BNC structure ensures that it can be used in either a multi channel SDI ingest, 3D stereoscopic SDI I/O or 4K SDI Preview workflow solution and virtually anywhere in between at multiple different video resolutions”, states Mott. “By working with our software partners we have provided a host of new SDI workflow solutions for production and post production, including the increasingly popular 4K SDI workflows.”

The Windows installer 5.11.2 and Epoch | 4K Supernova enables SCRATCH customers the new functionality of both full resolution 4K HD SDI video preview and 12-bit HD SDI preview.  The latter function allows SCRATCH customers to preview high bit depth imagery available with modern digital cameras.

Bluefish444 Epoch | 4K Supernova video cards support the following 4K SDI previews from within SCRATCH and SCRATCH Lab:

•    Digital Cinema 4096 X 2160 4:2:2 YUV 8/10 bit HD-SDI preview
