Vancouver-based actress Nicole G. Leier (“Edgemont”) and cinematographer Brendan Uegama, csc (“Exit Humanity”) have formed Black Tree Pictures. Black Tree Pictures produced the short, “Henry’s Glasses”, which won several awards including the National Film Board’s Best Short Film Award at the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. The film also won Best Picture and Best Director honors at the Vancouver Short Film Festival last October and Best Picture at Oregon’s Disorient Asian Film Festival. The company is currently in development stages for the feature film production of “Henry’s Glasses.”
Uegama, who just received his CSC certification, is currently shooting the feature “Suddenly,” starring Ray Liotta, directed by German filmmaker Uwe Boll, and produced by Odyssey Media Inc. The film is a remake of a 1954 gangster thriller starring Frank Sinatra.
Nicole G. Leier is an actress and producer known for her recurring role as “Kelsey Laidlaw” in the TV series, “Edgemont,” “True Justice,” starring Steven Segal; and Dark Angel, directed by James Cameron. Brendan Uegama’s previous credits include the feature films, Random Acts of Romance, starring Amanda Tapping; Exit Humanity, the Discovery Channel series “Dark Matters,” and commercials for Harley Davidson starring Dan Aykroyd.
Leier’s health and fitness TV series, “Kiss My Incoming Abs” is broadcast on Canada’s Novus TV. It is co-hosted by a variety of guests, from local gym owners to fitness celebrities, and is shot at different gyms and locations around the Lower Mainland, and provides “Motivational Moments” for viewers.
