Steadicam’s New Scout for Video and Film Production

The Tiffen Company, the Long Island-based manufacturer and distributor of award-winning accessories for the still imaging, motion picture and broadcast markets, recently introduced the new Steadicam Scout.

Based on Steadicam’s award-winning technology, the Scout has a revolutionary design that offers many new features and benefits. According to Steadicam VP and General Manager Frank Rush, “style, functionality, flexibility and affordability” are all wrapped within the new Scout. It has a combination of innovative features derived from the company’s popular Pilot, Flyer, Zephyr and Archer 2 Steadicam systems, allowing it to “excel in the range of operating possibilities.”

With its innovative approach to camera stabilizer design, the Steadicam Scout has uncompromising quality and all the necessary features to get the job done at an affordable price. It features a newly designed sled assembly (camera-mounting platform) that has a robust, carbon-fiber, no-tools extendable post with a safety system to protect the post from separating. The Scout vest is a continuation of the comfortable Flyer vest with an ergonomically fitted breast plate and solid metal shoulder fasteners for a secure fit and extended comfort. Its tools-free Iso-Elastic stabilizer arm supports 18 pounds (8 kg) of camera weight, and a 7-inch color LCD monitor features enhanced image quality and a wide viewing angle. Even under bright sunlight the Scout monitor is ideal for field production use. To learn more, visit
