The Lone Ranger Spotlights Southwest Locations

LoneRanger 2Disney Studios recently released The Lone Ranger, an action-packed, summer popcorn movie starring Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Made with a reported budget of $225 million, Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Director Gore Verbinski deserve credit for putting most of the big bucks up on the screen. Their efforts also showcase Southwest locations as grand as those in old John Ford westerns. Filming took place over seven months on location in four Southwestern states: New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and California. Some scenes were shot at Albuquerque Studios, and the crew spent three weeks in the tiny mountain town of Creede, Colorado, known for its silver-mining boom.
