Finding an ideal location for a shoot that is fresh for an audience and remains inside the thirty mile zone can be a lofty challenge.

Santa Clarita’s versatility and low fees are making that search a little bit easier as it continues to gain speed as a go-to destination for filming. In two recent articles from The Location Guide and Californa News, the city, just north of Los Angeles, saw its best June in history with a 44% boost in permits. Santa Clarita’s filming days picked up by 30%, which resulted in $33.5 million in internal mercantile impact.

Santa Clarita’s rise is due in part to its welcoming of filmmakers through a Film Incentive Program. “Santa Clarita has always been a film-friendly community,” Mayor Laurene Weste stated. “Over a years, we have focused a efforts on creation a film needing routine as easy as possible, while balancing a needs of prolongation with those of a residential and business communities. We were a initial city in Los Angeles County to offer a Film Incentive Program and sojourn committed to doing all we can to safeguard a position as a tip choice for filming in California.”

With more and more productions moving out of California and the state’s market share in television pilots falling by nearly 10%, the growth of Santa Clarita’s use as a backdrop is a comfort to many. The city has recently housed a bevy of film and television productions, including "Modern Family," "CSI, "Criminal Minds," Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Saving Mr. Banks.

Santa Clarita’s Film Bureau has confidence in its future as a shooting location. “We have a series of things going for us,” Russell Sypowicz, a film bureau administrator said. “We have a lot of opposite renowned locations, either it’s film ranches or only film-friendly locations around town. We have a flattering good infrastructure with dozens of sound stages… and we have a lowest fees in Los Angeles.”
