Modus FX Delivers Visual Effects for Source Code, the Next Duncan Jones Thriller

The Montreal-based visual effects studio Modus FX served as the lead facility for Duncan Jones' upcoming action thriller Source Code, scheduled for release on April 1. Source Code tells the story of a U.S. soldier who wakes up in the body of another man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train - forced to relive the final 8 minutes of the incident over and over again until he finds the perpetrator. This December, Modus FX delivered over 150 shots for the film, including complex digital crowd shots, CG trains, environments and dramatic pyrotechnics.

Post Makes It Look Easy

PostCol_Rumors_Still_05Perhaps the only thing more extreme than surfing a 40-foot wave is shooting video of the surfer barreling down the face. That’s what Producer/Director Mark Kronemeyer did as one of several cinematographers on the documentary Rumors, as he followed surfers in rural villages around Mexico searching for the perfect wave. (See the Water Wonders feature in this issue to learn more about this production.)

FilmEditng_DirectorMattReevesWhen the executives at Overture Pictures asked Director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) to write the screenplay for the American adaptation of the Swedish cult hit Let the Right One In, he turned to his frequent editor and friend Stan Salfas. The original film, which came out in 2008, tells the tale of a delicate relationship between two pre-adolescents, a boy who’s an outsider and a girl who happens to be a vampire.
