The Eagles Fly with New Sundance Doc

News - Location News

p3update_eaglessundance_sm Legendary rock band The Eagles are back in the spotlight with a new documentary. Debuting at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, History of the Eagles, Part 1 has been well received by elated audiences, and several band members were on hand for a Q&A session after the screening.

According to band member Glenn Frey, the group wanted someone with documentary experience to helm the project. And while pursuing filmmakers with Academy Award credentials they found Alex Gibney, the Oscar-winning producer of Taxi to the Dark Side and ENRON: The Smartest Guys in the Room, and the director of this year’s We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks. To direct the Eagles project, Gibney chose his longtime colleague Alison Ellwood. Together they pulled off an amazing documentary that is sure to entertain the masses, including a younger generation of filmmakers and musicians. And diehard Eagle fans will appreciate the doc’s close look at the band’s history, impressive never-before-seen footage that includes moments from their Hotel California tour. Ellwood is currently completing History of the Eagles, Part 2, which will focus on the band’s Hell Freezes Over reunion tour in the early 1990s.
