Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer gave an all-inclusive keynote address, and Gary Shapiro, president, CEO and CEA, started buzz with his opening keynote address that had the attendees excited to hit the floor running. “The 2010 International CES will be a phenomenal show with more than 2,500 exhibitors, including a record of more than 330 new companies, showcasing more than 20,000 new technology products and services,” Shapiro said. “The products unveiled this week at CES will change the face of the global technology industry.” Ballmer delivered his second pre-CES keynote, which focused on the importance of changing screens for the television and PC; cloud computing across multiple platforms; and the evolving natural-user interface.

Celebrity appearances included Lady Gaga at the Polaroid and Monster booths, NBA legend James Worthy at Haier America, and Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers was on hand at Sharp.

So far, CES 2010 appears to be a trade show focused on introducing the new world of 3D into the home –– at every turn, there was another full-HD/3D booth display highlighted by 3D technology development. Panasonic showcased a fully integrated HD-3D camcorder that will be released in the fall of 2010, and Tiffen introduced the new Steadicam Smoothee, which is specifically engineered for an Apple iPhone.
