Location Professionals Honored at COLA Awards

IMG 2756The 19th annual California On Location Awards (COLA) recently bestowed its awards to film and television industry location professionals for professional excellence in 10 categories. Held at the historic Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, the event welcomed a capacity audience of entertainment industry professionals and was steered by Master of Ceremonies Perry King, a veteran film, television and theater actor.


COLA is a production and signature of the Film Liaisons In California Statewide (FLICS), an organizational network of 41 film commissions and film offices throughout the state. The COLA program was created to recognize the vital role location professionals play in film and TV production. It honors location teams, production companies and public employees who have made the strongest contributions while filming on location in California in a given year.

Location Manager of the Year (Reality TV): John Grant, “Face Off”
Location Manager of the Year (Commercials): David Doumeng, “Nike”
Location Team of the Year (Studio Film): Transcendence (Warner Brothers), Location Manager Chris Baugh; Location Scout Lori Balton; Key Assistant Location Managers Mike Betz, Justin Duncan, Jeanie Farnam, Leo A. Fiahlo, Justin Harrold, Ryan Neary and Keomanee Villaythong.
Location Team of the Year (Independent Film): Fruitvale Station (Significant Productions), Location Manager Matthew Riutta and Assistant Location Manager Debra A. Wilson.
Location Team of the Year (TV Episodic Body of Work): “NCIS” (CBS), Supervising Location Manager Jim McClafferty; Location Manager Joel Sinderman; Key Assistant Location Managers Emily Esses, Darrin Lipscomb and Damon Rivetti.
Location Team of the Year (TV Episodic Single or Season): “The Bridge” (Concord Productions), Location Manager Ralph Coleman; Key Assistant Location Managers Jorge Luis Alvarez, Diana Lara and Steven Lee; Assistant Location Managers Douglas Burke, Phil Oglesby and Eddie Santillan.
Production Company of the Year (Reality TV): “Top Hooker” (Pilgrim Studios), Location Manager Jill Naumann
Assistant Location Manager of the Year (Television): Andrea Keener - "Scandal"
Assistant Location Manager of the Year (Features): Danny Finn - The Bling Ring

Below are the Public Employee Awards, given to city, state, county and federal employees for going above and beyond while facilitating productions in their jurisdictions.


City Public Employee of the Year: L. Turvey, M. Hernandez and G. Martinez (Los Angeles Police Department Contract Services Section)
County Public Employee of the Year: Christina Ramos (L.A. County Fire Department)
State Public Employee of the Year: Roger San Juan (Cal-Trans)
Federal Public Employee of the Year: Donna McMullen (Bureau of Land Management)
