My buddy John Root with Bexel asked us to join him for an open house to take a look at the brand new digital audio consoles from Calrec, the Apollo & Artemis that he's promoting.

After enjoying a fabulous BBQ lunch, we checked out the products exhibited by companies like Litepanels and Fujinon. Then we were treated to an amazing 3D video in Bexel's screening room. It was a great little event, and I'm glad I got to see old friends at some of the other companies in that massive facility in Burbank.

Ed Duffy, Business Agent of Teamsters Local 399 along with Poleng Hong, filming manager for the Millennium Biltmore in downtown Los Angeles and FLICS Director of Media Relations Richard McMillan graciously invited us to the Teamsters Local 399 annual location manager holiday reception.
I decided that since this is a time for many celebrations and the metro train stop is within walking distance of my house, it might be fun (and safer) to take it to the historic Millennium Biltmore. I sure am glad I did, and I was very inspired after visiting with great friends who have dedicated themselves to the world of locations for many, many years.

I always look forward to the annual Band Pro One World Event, which was held at Band Pro's facilities in Burbank. Attendees were welcomed with valet parking, raffles throughout the day and a 50s-themed spread of food while companies like Sony Electronics announced their 35mm digital product evolution, Codex Digital showcased their new Desktop Transfer Station and Ted from RED revealed the latest on the new Epic camera.

I was happy to have visited with old friends, like Ali Ahmadi the Vitec Group's O'Connor and Sabastian Lumme from SLx, LLC, and I had an opportunity to meet some new representatives from other exhibiting companies.

Last night Aaron Rogers with NBC Universal Studios, one of our biggest supporters, invited us to the opening of their Virtual Stage 1. It's a pre-rigged virtual production studio with a green screen stage, including motion capture and real-time camera tracking, two editing bays, a 60 terabyte server room and production space. It comes as a package deal or "Ala Carte," says Jeanne Cordova, VP of Marketing, Publicity/Special Events.
We were taken on a tour and shown demos in the green room where I was happy to see friends like Lou Duskin operating the crane. Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious dinner  buffet and drinks.
